SANKALPA – This is the new album by Johannes Vogt. He is joined by friends as in his previous album Sharanam to bring a contemporary interpretation of Kirtan once again. The yoga teacher and musician from the Black Forest touches the heart of the listener with his gentle voice.
With the "Invocation" at the beginning, or even tracks like "Ganapati Moorya", Johannes follows on from traditional Temple Kirtan with fresh expression.
But already in the second mantra "Om namah Shivaya" the range of this album becomes audible. The shamanically mystical sounding Sylvia Kirchherr, wonderfully accompanies the quiet and powerful Shiva mantra of Johannes and invites you to dream and connect to the deeper essence carried by the Mantras.
Again and again different instruments are used.

This album offers an impressive blend of different elements and music styles through the harmonius combination of handpan, bansuri, strings and tabla. The English kirtan singer Daisy Bowman accompanies Johannes on several tracks including Gayatri mantra and the playful reggae version of "Jai Radah Madhava” where her voice adds warm soulfulness.
Johannes brings the influences of his youth of reggae, pop and rock in “Hare Sharanam” and “Kali” brought to life by characteristic brass instruments

Through mystically interpreted mantras and uplifting modern-sounding versions, the journey also leads through playful dub arrangements widening its appeal to a broad audience.
The album, co-produced by Matthias Schreiber, is a unified experience of different dynamics and concludes with a warm, calm "Dhanvantari Maha Mantra".
